Case study: Mouchel
Mouchel, the consulting and business services group, recently installed Maps@ to manage the disparate GIS data assigned to it by their many clients.
Maps@ created an easily accessible web portal which allows Mouchel’s GIS team to centrally manage and distribute a single complete Ordnance Survey (OS) database, rather than multiple data abstracts, bringing vastly improved service delivery to its clients. Being able to centrally manage geospatial information in this way has meant that Mouchel can be certain that there is consistency of currency and accuracy across all the projects that they undertake. It also ensures that any changes or updates to that data will come directly from Ordnance Survey and need only be uploaded once to benefit all the various contracts Mouchel are working on and become instantly available across the company.
As a result the level of service that Mouchel can offer clients has greatly improved in terms of smooth project management and reductions in time and cost spent administering the different data and licences. All of this is now done within a central automated application.
Maps@ is a technologically innovative system which has harnessed the very latest in web portal and GIS technology. It is the first such license system to be developed following the launch of the new OS licence terms and is right at the cutting edge of GIS using OGC standards and INSPIRE directive. Whereas before, the management and licensing of geospatial data for a large project represented a time consuming task for Mouchel. Maps@ has made use of technology, and the opportunity provided by the new Ordnance Survey Multi Client Contractor Licence (MCCL) terms, and has created a solution which vastly improves this whole process.
For Mouchel, ensuring full compliance with Ordnance Survey licensing, will in the future mean being able to produce audit trail reports to satisfy these licence terms.
